WEDGE ANCHORS

Wedge anchors are used to attach objects to concrete, brick, or other masonry surfaces. They are similar in design to sleeve anchors, but instead of a sleeve, they have a wedge-shaped clip that expands as the anchor is tightened, providing a secure grip on the masonry.

To install a wedge anchor, a hole is first drilled into the masonry surface. The wedge anchor is then inserted into the hole, and the nut and washer are threaded onto the end of the anchor. As the nut is tightened, the wedge-shaped clip expands, pressing against the sides of the hole and securing the anchor in place.

Wedge anchors are commonly used to attach fixtures such as structural supports, handrails, and machinery to masonry surfaces. They offer a strong fixing and are available in a variety of sizes and materials, including steel, stainless steel, and hot-dipped galvanized. However, they are not suitable for applications where the masonry is prone to cracking or splitting, as the expanding clip can cause damage to the surrounding material.
