Button socket screws, are used in applications where the head protrudes above the mating parts and a more decorative appearance is required. The larger contact surface area beneath the head of the screw spreads the load more evenly and reduces the risk of damage to the mating surface. Button head socket screws should not be used in in critical applications where high tensile strength is essential as the head design may not be adequate for the loads required.
