WATER HARDENING SILVER STEEL
First Choice Industrial stocks a range of both metric and imperial Erasteel Stubs water hardening silver steel. The high carbon content and inclusion of chromium in silver steel gives rise to its strength, wear resistance and hardness. Silver steel can be used in a number of applications, most commonly for making hardened tools.
Typically, the silver steel is cut and machined into the desired shape, then it is subject to a heat treatment and tempering process to achieve the hardness and other mechanical properties required. Once the material has been heat-treated, it is then typically finished to achieve the desired surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
